Buying guide
Choosing tablet supplements
Compare tablet supplements by the ingredient amounts per recommended serving. A figure in a product name may describe one tablet, several tablets, an extract equivalent or a total blend. Check the ingredient panel before comparing two strengths.
Read the directions together with the pack count. As a calculation example, 120 tablets at two tablets a day provide 60 servings. If another product recommends one tablet, the same pack count gives a different number of servings. The example is not a dose recommendation.
Check whether the product is a swallowable tablet, chewable or effervescent preparation, and use the manufacturer’s instructions for that format. Review tablet size where information is available, coating ingredients, allergens and stated dietary suitability.
A vitamin or mineral amount in milligrams cannot be compared directly with a number in micrograms without considering the units. The NHS guide to vitamin and mineral units explains those measurements. Look at the amount of the relevant ingredient, not simply the tablet’s total weight.
Explore capsules, gummies and liquid drops if you prefer another format. Their formulas and servings may differ. If you need help finding a label detail, ask us about the exact product.

Frequently asked questions
Which label checks matter most for tablets?
Read whether the tablet is intended to be swallowed, chewed or dissolved; these directions differ between products. Do not crush or split tablets unless the manufacturer permits it. Compare the number of tablets in a recommended serving and review the full formula rather than assuming every tablet is used the same way.
How do I compare tablet strengths?
Compare the amount of the same ingredient per recommended serving, using the same units. Check whether the label figure is for one tablet or more than one. A total formula weight or extract-equivalent number can describe something different from the amount of an individual vitamin or mineral.
Does the tablet count equal the number of days of use?
Only if the directions recommend one tablet each day. For example, 120 tablets at two a day give 60 servings. Check the directions for the chosen product and whether they describe a daily quantity or another schedule; pack count alone is not enough to compare duration.
Are all tablets intended to be swallowed whole?
No. Different products can be supplied as swallowable, chewable or effervescent tablets. Check how your chosen product is intended to be used before taking it. Ask a pharmacist before crushing, splitting or otherwise changing a product’s stated method of use.
Are tablet supplements vegan or suitable for allergies?
Review the full ingredients, coating and stated suitability for that exact product. Different products within the collection can contain different ingredients. A vegan claim on one formula does not establish that every tablet from the same brand is vegan or suitable for a particular allergy.
Are tablets stronger or better absorbed than capsules?
The format alone cannot establish either point. Compare the nutrient forms, amounts per serving and directions for the actual formulas. A tablet and capsule bearing similar product names can have different ingredients, so choose from their label information rather than assuming a universal advantage for either format.
Can I take tablets alongside other supplements?
Check all the ingredient panels for overlap, including products in liquid, gummy or capsule form. Count the amounts in each recommended daily serving. If medicines or professionally recommended supplements are involved, ask a pharmacist about the exact products before adding another formula.
